Popsicle

Weirdest thing I can remember hearing in a very long time. Parts remind me of rock music, parts remind me of dubstep. Or glitch. Or farm animals. Or carnivorous plants.

If I were ever to listen to music on drugs, which I'm proud to say won't happen, this would be my song of choice. Crazy stuff.

Not crap at all, though. I didn't like the sudden drop in volume near the end, but the rest of the song was pretty creative and sounded... er... yeah.

Friday!

Started off slow, built up slowly to something very peaceful yet strong. This song by itself sounds much better after hearing the rest of the week's work. Sitting down and listening to them in order, this has a lot of that "and so, weary of the journey full of trials and triumphs, our hero lays his head down to rest for the night." Very satisfying end.

fr0z said this, too, but I loved the part at 1:50-1:54 where it built up, had a suspenseful silence, then eased into a simple but very nice ending. I love the cutoff at the end, that was a sweet touch.

So... after all this, all I've got to say is three cheers for Caleb! I admire your ability to keep up with your project and write a song per day while still keeping this sort of quality. I enjoyed every single song, and I'm currently downloading each of them.

Pleasure to listen, pleasure to review. Keep it up, my good friend!

It's intense how well you read my music. As though it were an open book, for all to read. Which is totally how my music is, but few know how to read it.

I'm not one to verbally express how I feel, it's only through music that I can achieve letting the public know how I feel. In this case, I'm glad that atleast one person was able to walk away understanding it.

I was extremely debateable about 1:50, because it's completely something new from what I've done in the past... However I do like the way it sounds now, and I'm glad that others do too.

I'm extremely happy one person was able to find enjoyment from my week.

Thursday!

This started off as a very pro-sounding song. I'm really envying your piano sounds by now. Though everything sounds gorgeous, and I like the chord progression a lot, it does start to get repetitive about halfway through the song. I'm nobody to talk about repetitivity, and it really isn't that bad at all, it just kept me hungering for something else to happen.

And something definitely did. When the percussion came in, I forgot this was just a seventeen-year-old composing music on his laptop. This was something I'd expect to hear in a movie, like Aaron said. It's amazing :) My ears are tearing up...

This song brought a smile to my face. I loved the second half, but the whole song was pretty fantastic overall. First digits skyward :)

Wednesday!

Whoa. The first thing that struck me was how beautiful that piano sounds. And how reverb-y it was. I love reverb :D

Composition-wise. I love the accidentals / clashing eighth notes that came in every few bars. Those helped me connect with the feeling of discomfort, while the beauty in the slow strings and piano sounded extremely relaxing, like a great weight taken off someone's shoulders. I'd say this stuck pretty darn closely with your description. In fact, I wish an animator would stumble upon this and create one of those heartwarming shorts, because this is some great music!

I also really like the low strings playing at the end - having those softly fading out was much better than ending the song right there.

Great stuff here, I'm starting to really enjoy the fact that you had so much time on your hands. Off to Thursday's song.

Haha, you know when I first sat down and made this, I said to myself:

"Well, I bet I'd make Ben proud with all this verbalishicous reverb."

Haha, something along those lines.

I thought they clashed at first, and I really disliked them at first, but I hadn't changed it due to laziness, and then I grew to like them, thus they stayed :D

This was a crazy piece to write, and I'm glad to see you and some others enjoyed it! Thanks :D

Tuesday!

When I first heard the beginning, it sort of reminded me of something Motoro Faam would use to start of a seven-minute experimental piece with. I definitely wasn't expecting the strings and the bass notes on the piano, then I remembered who wrote this :)

I like the strings and the notes in the treble piano, but I can't really say I'm a fan of the bass notes in the piano. I don't know why, they just don't seem to fit. Maybe they're too heavy for my liking? It's a matter of preference.

Otherwise, good job! Nothing mind-boggling, but it's still a nice little piece. So far I'm liking Monday's the best, though. Off to Wednesday...

The bass notes on the piano are a little too strong. Though, due to be lazy, I'll probably not change it, haha.

[LB5 - The nerves]

Monday!

I love how this starts out, with the piano "strumming" a chord and then having the three notes played afterwards... Sounds sort of like a call-and-response thing, which is really nice.

The whole piece switches between both major and minor, but not far enough to either extreme for me to feel happy or sad. I can definitely see the inspiration from anticipation of the unknown, as it gives me images. I'm picturing an orphan finally being adopted, and although he's unsure whether he'll like his new parents, he's being optimistic. It's cute :3

Nice use of the flute, by the way. I'm going to show this to my sister, she loves flutes. Good work for only a day! Now on to Tuesday for me.

Now mind you, as I said in the last song, nothing is anywhat the same, as I've come to a ton of... understandings, more or less. Yet, it still was suspenseful then.

Huh.

While waiting for this song to load, I was thinking about the title and the description, and realized how easy it is to relate making music to doing #2. It's not the most pleasant of comparisons, so I'm not going to explain, but... yeah :P

As for the song itself. The atmosphere is great. I've been listening to a LOAD of dark ambient for the past two days, and I thought I was going to come out of that genre, but you've actually got some similar ambient effects here. Sounds really odd, in a good way.

I like that the classical side of things was kept on a relatively low volume, it sort gave me less to concentrate on melody-wise so I could appreciate the atmosphere better.

This is the sort of thing I'd imagine hearing in a really cheesy 90's detective movie. And that's a compliment, because a better 90's movie would have hired a big-time composer who wouldn't be nearly this unique. So... yep.

Oh my dear.

This is the most shocking thing I've heard all day, and I've been pumping music through my ears since eight in the morning. It's music like this that makes me think you're crazy for making it, and that I'm crazy for liking it. it's so profound, but it's almost natural... insane. I love this. A lot.

Hmm...

I like the song, but some things don't sit quite so well with me. The strings sound alright, but the rhythm you used wasn't particularly mind-blowing. It just sort of blended in and carried on with the opening bit.

The drums sounded nice, no real complaints there.

Something I noticed right at 1:36. The tension in the strings resolves to a nice easy chord, but the shaky synth you have going switches to a note that keeps the tension going. It doesn't clash or anything, it just makes me feel uneasy. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this well enough :\

I do like the song, but it could be better.

Hmm... I think I know what you mean. I should have made the strings sound more like "The song isn't over! This is the fucking climax!!!". More like the shaky synth in other words. Power failure. lol
