Huh...

I like this a lot. It's more of an ambient, pondering sort of beat than a banging rage. Sort of like letting out the anguish before admitting defeat and dying... which I guess is the whole point of the song anyways.

Again, this is something I'd really like to hear some lyrics over. Someone needs to take the initiative! (as long as it's not me) So... really nice tune here. Minimalistic drums don't bother me at all :)

Glad to hear someone liked the drums! ;D

...

Well damn.

I mean darn.

This is just amazing. It's like a really strange combination between electro house with the bass synth and acid techno with the rest of it. Really loving that mix, and I also caught the little trick there with there being a small pause at the end of each measure... that sounds really trippy and I love it :3

I need to hear more like this :O Really, if you can make this I'd love to hear a whole album of it :D

Lublub194 responds:

This is really sorta a one time thing I believe. No album.

Although, honestly. I've not made any classical in a while, so maybe?

The pause at the end of the measure wasn't even intended :3

Thanks for the review man.

This is very pretty :) The transition at 1:52 was very smooth, sort of like a little shimmer in the sound before it changed. There was also something I noticed particularly at 2:40. I'm not sure what to call it... gating? Something with a filter going on there? Anyway, really liked that effect.

Mind if I ask what the main synth is behind this sound? I'm really digging it, whatever it is :) Great work, even if it's just for experimenting.

SineRider responds:

I used Thor for this one in Reason 4. If you have that I can send over the file. There wasn't any gating I did on purpose, I did assign LFOs to filter frequency one of osccilator's pitch. So it gently fluctuates throughout the song

Well hey there!

I agree with ReF about the instruments sounding mechanical, and I guess that leads to my main suggestion... near the beginning, before the rest of the drums come in, the snare seems too sudden and loud. It sort of breaks the peace a little too abruptly. Don't get me wrong, I love the drums, I just think sort of leading up to the point where the drums come in would be better if it slowly increased in volume. But that's just my idea, you can do whatever you want :)

Otherwise, I really like this song. It's something that's easy to listen to :D Nice mix of synths and acoustical instruments.

-Lamp

You're a swell guy.

This is just as good as than the song that goes like.

Sweet vocals, piano, bass... name an instrument and it sounds good in this song :) Kinda makes me want to try trip hop. But that'd just be jumping on your wagon. Ah well. This is a great song for me to drink off-brand diet ginger ale and pretend to be hip to!

AlmostTechnicolor responds:

I don't even know how to respond to this review. You're ridiculous, but it's great ;]

Thanks.

IS THIS THE SONG YOU PUT WORK INTO?!

If so, great! I can tell, it sounds really nice. Soundtrack quality, I'd say. At first, the immediate thing that popped into my head was for a Christmas scene. That was just the bells, I think, that put that in my head every time I hear them. Then I thought about it for a minute, and this beginning really started giving me images of Edward Scizzorhands. If you've ever seen that movie...

It's a very peaceful song, but I can definitely hear the restlessness. It's like a dull pain... it doesn't really hurt but it's still uncomfortable and makes one want to just..... well, yeah. Be restless. I don't know how to describe it. You get the idea.

Yep.

This song really connects with me, but I don't really know why. Insomnia, restlessness, or even my brain wandering constantly... those have never really been things that bother me. Maybe... nah.

Huh. Anyway. Really good song, I've got nothing to say about the production. This'll be the second song I've downloaded from NG in a month, at least. Great job!

-Lamp

Ah yes.

Ha, I really like where you took this :) Very laid back until about 1:20, loved the ambience / pad there, but when the percussion started pumping again I was thrown back into the wonderful techy style you've always got!

Awesome job, can't wait until the next big tune!

Twistedtechnology responds:

glad you liked it!! alas, im not surprised to see my score drop so hard either. I think it sucks that people bomb songs without giving any reason at all. pretty childish if you ask me. anyway, i make music for the people who care for the music, and not their own ratings. Thanks for the review my friend!

~twistedtechnology!

Well howdy!

I was just talking about you on a forum and decided to see if you'd put anything new up. I've been a fan of yours since I heard "My Experiment" (I see that's still on here... excellent :D) in a flash game somewhere a couple years ago. I'm not sure if you remembered me, but last winter or so I followed your music like a stalker and we sent back a few PM's about the basics of mixing. Just wanted to let you know that what you told me then still helps me loads to this day :)

As for this little tune... excellent as always. You've still got that smooth, laid-back style that just lets me comfortably sink into the music. I can't wait until this is finished, and best of luck with everything! Nice to see you back in action!

-Lamp

Twistedtechnology responds:

its nice to be back! im glad to see the advice and tips i gave you are still holding up for ya! Talkin about me on the forums hm? awesome deal XD glad to see someone's still got me on the radar XD sorry the resoponse is so late lol. yea, the only thing is, i have none of my old samples, due to a computer crash, and the computer i use now is kinda choppy, so i takes a lot of extra effort to get things to sound as smooth as i like to get em.

Thanks a ton for the review! yea, i still remember ya XD

I've never been quick on the uptake.

But the audio-induced imagery is quite rad. You're an inspiration!

VegetarianMeat responds:

Heh, thanks a lot :)

Wah.

I deserve to go sit in the corner, I didn't even notice this was here until today :( But mind you, I'll be dancing in that corner! I remember playing the levels that had this playing over and over again. My favorite part was always the little chirping arpeggio things that play when the lead synth takes a break :D

This remix makes me so happy :3

-the happiest Lamp you ever did see

ReFreezed responds:

Haha I'll have to go dancing with you in that corner because I didn't notice your review. :X

Anyway, glad it makes you that happy. It makes me super happy too! Woo! :D
