Haha...

We both made a five-minute ambient track within a few days... but I like yours so much better. I love the ambience... very smooth and relaxing. In contrast to Brawler D's review, I didn't think the mind was getting more corrupt. The pads and that tinkling percussion I hear just keep a young, pure feeling... so sweet! Makes me want to hug the music. :)

Very nice job on the percussion, it reminds me a little bit of SBB's older stuff. There were echoey snares near the beginning that really stood out to me as being cool.

Oh, and I just got to the end. I think it might be better to set the listen down gently with a longer, fading ending than stopping it all of a sudden. I really got in the mood and it seemed to end a little to quickly. Other than that, no complaints. I'll give you a ten just because I feel like it. Keep on keeping on!

Yay, thanks! Hmm, now when I'm listening I actually agree that a fading ending would be better. Maybe I'll change that later. Merry Christmas!

Interesting

Well, this is interesting. I don't know if this would really count as trance, seeing as you missed the shortest type of mix by the length of two minutes, but I won't get into that now. (Maybe label it as techno?) I thought the voice and crowd were good for atmosphere, but didn't exactly suit the song. Complimented each other well, though.

I think the main synth needs to be a lot louder, and the kick is too soft. I can hardly hear it, and any hardcore trance fan is going to notice that. Around 1:30 after the voice, it sounds like you reverse it every four counts. I don't know how it works, but it made the rest of the mix duck out for a split second. On second thought, the whole second half of the song sounds kind of restrained. I don't mind that much, but it's pretty noticeable.

Composition-wise, I thought it was fine. Nice harmonies here, but again the synths make me think of techno. No real complaints, though.

Altogether, nice job here. Keep up the nice work!

Haha!

I don't know if the reviewer below me was labeling the himself or the song... but the sheer dumbness of his review made me laugh.

Anyways, very nice piece here! I like the dark, soft feeling it has. A song usually gives me a picture, but here I'm so focused on the music itself that there's just a blank in my head. And that's not a bad thing at all. I really like the part around 1:35 or so where you have the... dang, I don't know what that effect is called. Not a glissando... oh well. The part where the notes are played in broken chords very quickly. If that makes sense.

Altogether, a very nice piece! I'm planning on listening to most of your songs, and reviewing a few as I go, so look out for those! Keep up the good work!

MJTTOMB responds:

Glad you liked it, this is one of my more successful songs. really good to have a new fan, i'll be sure to work on trying to get you that sheet music.

Let me see.

Well, I can't remember everything about the original, so I'm not sure if you made anything up or just stuck to the original. Nice start, though. This is the second time all month I've heard FL Keys and it didn't bug the heck out of me, but I'd recommend using different piano samples anyway. Soundfonts, maybe?

Otherwise, I think you could turn the bass down and fix some clipping issues (think those are coming from the piano...) Drums are fine, nice job there. Are you planning on finishing this, or are you going to leave it as the intro alone? I'd recommend making it longer, but that's up to you. Otherwise, keep up the nice work!

Kl1054 responds:

i'm just gonna stick to the intro cuz the rest of the song's melody is different and harder to make...lol

Very nice

This is extremely nice. I think some of the best songs here are impromptu piano pieces. This one is a new favorite of mine, now. You play so well, and there's a lot of emotion here. It's one of those songs where I just want to lie back and listen for twenty minutes.

There's nothing to critique here, just keep up the awesome playing!

Thanks for the review. Im glad you think that

Well now...

This song sounds sort of jazzy, in a mysterious and dark way. It's sort of like one of those songs that would play in a dark flashback looking back on an unknown person that has a unique vibe. If that makes sense...

I can't give any criticism here, this song is just perfect! Excellent playin here, keep up the good work!

Like the title!

Generally, spending only a day on something isn't long enough, but I actually like this! Everything here sounds quite nice, most notably the piano and percussion. The strings are sometimes a little too cluttered, but I don't mind much. The song itself is very rhythm-based, which pretty much sells the fact that it's about the ocean. Speaking of that, if this song is about the deepest ocean, I would definitely fill the emptier parts (where the legato strings aren't playing) of the song with a low, sweeping string section or classical-sounding pad. Otherwise, it will sound like it's not as deep and vast like a sea should be.

I like the choirs here, maybe let them stand out a little bit more. Dynamics could use a little variation as well, but otherwise everything sounds pretty nice! Keep up the good work!

Nice and chill

Sounds like a song they'd play for a movie trailer... Very nice music here! The piano sounds great, mind letting me know where this is from? (Sorry for asking for something else...) The piano is spread out, which I like. Covers a lot of atmosphere. I like the laid-back percussions here. The pitch-sliding on the synth sounded very nice, I need to make a song using a song that uses that. I like the ending where everything fades away... That's about all I have to say. Nice work here! I'm adding it to my favorites, by the way. :)

Yay! Thanks for a nice review!

I love this song!

I poked my self in the eye several times while listening to this song. On accident, of course.

This is awesome! I love the synths here, the one around 2:35 really stands out when it gets that really watery sound. I'm listening on speakers, but I can still hear the panning and other effects you used. Really nice. I thought the percussions sounded great here, where are you getting these samples? I must know this! :) Hmm... nice job on the piano, the whole song suddenly takes on a calmer, reminiscing feeling when it plays. Only place I didn't think the title fit, actually. Very nice job here, it might be my favorite of your songs yet!

Keep up the awesome work!

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

Wow, thanks a lot!

(I'll PM you about the samples)

Yes!

This is the type of music I like to listen to in the middle of the night while I'm writing my stories. My stories are extremely long, so when I'm writing a scene it's nice to have music long enough to cover it entirely. This song and "Monastery" are pretty much the only songs I have that work well enough. You make great ambience!

My only complaint is that it seemed to end suddenly. Of course, after nine and a half minutes of soundscape, any silence is going to be sudden. I just didn't feel like it resolved itself well enough. Although the opening it loops to does a nice job with that... I just liked the way you ended Monastery with a lead up to a final chord... maybe I'm just being too picky.

Anyway, I love the song. Very nice sound, I might try this myself sometime. :)

Keep up the good work!

Rig responds:

Yeah, I know what you mean. I kinda liked the unresolved ending feel, though.
Thanks for the review! It's great to hear that my music helps people :3
