Open-minded

I personally think this is a pretty good rendition of the theme. The original version has moving strings and woodwinds, so in comparison this seems flat and static. I still like it, though, because you've put a unique spin on it that, frankly, I wouldn't think anyone else would bother trying. Kudos for that.

Nice job on the percussion, too. I've tried, but can't make 8bit drums...

I know this was just an experiment, but hey, I liked it. I'm interested to see if anything comes from this...

Hey, thanks for the review. The original forum thread went something like 'someone should cover this, I've got the sheet music' and I pointed out his sheet music was just the melody and he responded 'well I was hoping someone who had heard it before...etc' so I figured I would tackle it specifically with information given to me, without listening to the original track or searching more complete music.

So I started throwing in the melody, faked up a synth and built some percussion for it. Overall I spent maybe forty-five minutes or an hour doodling with it before I was satisfied the project was complete. I think it turned out interestingly, if nothing else.

Sigh...

This song made me think: every day, we live our lives thinking only of ourselves, and what we get out of the day. It's pitiful, but true. This song made me realize that sometimes, we have to be willing to give everything we hold dear. No holding back, just give. And that realization reminded me of the girl I admire, and how she's always giving everything she can. Nobody is returning the favor, and this song has inspired me to try it. Thanks!

A beautiful piece, nothing I can critique. I could write a book on how this makes me feel, but you'll have to live with just that fact that this inspired me. Thank you, Zero!

*Sighs*

Tears came to my eyes while listening to this. The first was for how beautiful it was, obviously. The second was that Lubz said exactly what I was thinking about this sounding young and careless. The third is because I now can never be proud of my drums again.

Seriously. Amazing drum work here. I'd try to explain myself in-depth, but it's not worth the space. Just... excellent. Sounds like one of those epic, moving songs that world-famous singers perform in giant stadiums in front of a million people. That sort of drums never gets old.

Everything blends well also! What synth did you use for the eight notes? It sounds very nice. :)

Overall, I think this is your best song! Or at least second best. I agree with Lubz about the album. This would be a perfect ending to a CD! Um... yeah. So, keep up the fantastic work!

Steinway FTW!

I've yet to hear the original, but I'm assuming this is a good remix. :) You start off with a very nice piano. I love that sound, but it's too much work to bring into Reason :(

Anyway, something about the song reminds me of an old church hymn that I can't remember the name of. It's got a sort of creepy feeling, one of the synths you have playing in the background really has a windy and dead feeling, which suits the title.

At 1:10, I was sort of surprised when it turned into a sort of dance thing, but it works, so why not, right? (four commas in one sentence!) I like the fade out/ritardando... actually I'm not sure if that's the term. Slowing down? Anyway, I liked the ending.

Very nice remix, I'm downloading it as soon as I'm done typing. Looks like the grass of Sweden is spared... for now.

Sweet review! ^__^

I can recommend that you listen to the original. It's one of my favorite ambient songs. You'd probably like it.

An old church hymn, eh? I never thought of anything like that.

The dance thing was actually an accident. I was browsing my kick samples and chose the wrong sound. It sounded great so I changed the whole song from there. The slow-down is the same as in the original. I was unsure how it would fit to this version as this one is faster. Glad you liked it.

Thank you! And yay for green grass! :D

Trainrides are for train rides.

The beginning synth sounds kind of raw to me, but once the song gets going, I don't hear that as much. So it's nothing to worry about. :)

I don't know if it's my new super special awesome headphones, but this seems to have a lot more bass power. That sound that starts around :50 seems like it wants to eat me. You could have gotten away with a title like "Gargantuan HUNGAH!!!"

Anyway, I head banged to this. Lovely percussion as usual... >:( Haha...

It does sound different from a lot of your stuff, but that's not really a bad thing. nice job, of course, and if you don't keep up the good work, I'll dye all the grass in Sweden bright orange.

ReFreezed responds:

Hahaha :D

I was unsure about the synth in the beginning just because it sounded very raw. But if you say it's ok I believe you. :)

That bass around :50 is supposed to sound very powerful so it's great that you thought so. And lol.

Head banging ftw! \m/

*stuttering* OMG I bettt t t ter ke ep up the good wo oork! :O

Thanks a lot for the review, Lamp!

Stunning

I really owe you something more than these words of appreciation, but it's really all I can give. Your talent is worth more than anything I can provide, so thanks for sharing it with us.

Heya there!

I feel pretty tired right now, so forgive me if this ends up not being very helpful! :)

Let's see... yeah, this is definitely a step in a new direction! I like it, surprisingly! You've got the synths working wonderfully with the genre, and... yeah. I like!

The melodic side of things is very nice as well. It's got some rock tendencies, but still has that electro feel... maybe you're inventing a new genre here! Drums have a sort of hip-hop sound at times, which I'm normally throwing stuff at windows when I hear, but it sounds good here.

One of the few problems I have, though, is the cymbal. It's fine except that I think it plays too often. Cutting it down to the bare essentials would make it easier to focus on the tones instead of the percussion.

I like the title, by the way. ;)

Um... yeah. My brains' been exhausted. Nice work, keep it up!

Awsumb.

Sounds like deep, distorted house. Which is very nice. I love it.

The absence of exclamation marks in this review should not be taken to represent my enthusiasm. Seriously, this is an awesome theme. Keep on rocking, and thou shalt be... something.

Dj-Fanta5t1c responds:

htank you man. excellant review

Really...

It's not bad at all. There was a slight part in the beginning that was off-tempo, but the song itself is pretty good! I'd add some effective reverb, and maybe go into a part where the chords are played differently.... but that's just random thoughts from me. I liked this a lot, though... are ya going to finish it?

Lpauley responds:

i've added a bridge and some other interesting parts

might be around 2:45 now
i wish i could compose better

And Him Are Back!

A solid ten for you, sir!

Something sounds different about this track... it's a little more rough (and that's just some of the synths, not a bad thing at all). I've also noticed that you haven't put in your thirty-second (?) note rolls, which were something I always thought of you when I heard. But I like this song just as much! Very dancey and awesome.

I really like the little ambient parts you throw in, those are nice. :)

One thing I might have done is make that little percussion groove at the end last longer before it fades, kinda like the drum outtro's in trance music. Just thought that might add a little something.

Anyway, glad to see you back! Keep up the good work!

-Lamp

Twistedtechnology responds:

Thanks a ton!! Yea, i was a bit too lazy for 32nd notes this time around. I was glad enough to see i was making something, so i didnt really want to push that too far and screw it up royally XD glad you like it man!
