This is..

Awesome! I'm not a fan of retro stuff normally, but this is pretty great! It's one of those songs that I wouldn't go hunting for, but if I just stumble upon it, I love it. Hmm. Great job!

ReFreezed responds:

Why thanks :D

As said though, this is mostly a test.

Sweet!

I don't have anything to say except that this is absolutely fabulous! Jazzy, relaxing, good for any sleepy little town. :)

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

Thank you :D

Uh-huh...

First thing I though of? An ultra-cool spy flexing his muscles and walking through headquarters, intimidating all the top-secret secretaries and top-secret coworkers. Yeah... haha :)

Awesome song! Never heard anything from DOOM except remixes (shun me now), but that doesn't stop me from liking this. The synths are awesome, the drums work great in the song. I really like the wind-ish effect, even if it is quiet. Awesome job! I give you the ten/o/ten award! Keep on with this insane stream of stuff!

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

Haha, yeah. xD

I was a bit unsure about the synth I used in the middle of the song. It's totally random, I tell you. And at first I was going to use the same drums as in the rest of the song but it got too repetitive so I changed them. WOOT for the ten/o/ten award! :D

awesome

awesome

...

No, I really can't stand people who leave reviews like that. It's like going up to Mount Everest, pointing at it, saying "big," and then walking away. :) Anyway, this is really a great song. I'm so used to having your ambient music playing, this is a big difference. It's a lot more... whatever the opposite of ambient is. Present? I don't know the word.

The song keeps hinting at a lot of things, but as soon as something starts to form in my head, something new decides to take over. I guess that's the fun of it, right?

Nice job on the tune. Drums = o-face for me. I also like the album art for it, even if I've got no idea what it is. :P Keep up the good work!

-Lamp

VegetarianMeat responds:

Agreed.

Yeah this is very different than the stuff I usually make. That's kind of where I was going with in the title (other things). Glad you liked the drums, that's my favorite part of it all. Thanks for the review :D

BTW - The album cover is a guy with glasses on a cell.

Whoo-hoo!

Inspired by my song? Awesome!

I can hear where my song inspired this, definitely. The percussion here is amazing, much better than mine! The sliding synth is airy and awesome, same with everything else in this song! I feel like I'm flying... yay!

This is amazing, even if it is an intro/outtro kinda thing. I really like this! Favorited, fivened, ten-enned, etc. Keep up the awesome work!

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

Yes! :D

Glad you liked this one that much too. :)

Hahaha!

This song makes me laugh, sorry.

Things are a bit too distorted for me, and I have a lot of trouble hearing any of the low drums. :\ The composition is very interesting, though. Makes me want to dance like a mime. :P I like the flanger on the synth that comes in about 2:10 (and before, too, but I can't remember the time stamp).

Nice job, it's just a little bit too much distortion on the low end. :|

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

Laughing is good, yo! :D

The song wasn't actually supposed to have any drums at all when I started on it, but it got a little too empty. Dance like a mime? lol

Hmm, I think it sounds a lot more distorted with headphones than without. I'm guessing you used headphones... Anyway, thanks for an 8! It was more than I expected it to get. ^___^

Aw...

This is... devastating. Dang you, you titled the song with the word that best describes it! How could you do that? Argh!

Haha, jk. :P Really nice wood-chime (I guess that's what we're calling it?) I can tell a lot of work went into that! I can never get my delays right... any way, great ambience! Some parts are dissonant, which adds a lot to the feeling of everything being dead and blown away. Some of the chords you used really remind me of the desert, for some reason. That's a good thing, by the way.

The percussion and background effects didn't take over the melodic parts, which was really nice. I think everything here sits in it's little place nicely. :)

Awesome job, I'm downloading this for sure!

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

Sorry? :P

Yeah, I like how the wood chime turned out as well. I didn't make the actual wood chime sound from scratch though, I just added the delay and reverberation. I think I can see how this reminds you of the desert with it's vast, dead planes of nothing but sand.

Yay for download! I'm glad you liked it that much :D

Jambo

Starts off pretty normally, I'd say, which for you is a good thing. I like like all the reverb! It makes me feel like there's some giant top-secret government building I'm sneaking into and breaking codes and such. The percussion is nice and unique, wiith the delay and cool rythms. :)

The first three minutes were a pretty nice part! I haven't gotten past there yet, so now I'll do that!

I like the synths here! Especially the synth that gets distorted (I think that's what's happening). That particular synth reminds me a bit of Cordis, if you've heard of him. Anyway, sort of a lengthy build-up, but what it built up to was awesome! Is that bass sidechained or just off-beat? I can't really tell, it's so low.

Anyway, this is definitely a journey of a song! I don't see why this is too long, but that's coming from a guy who listens to part one of E2E4 (31.5min, last time I checked) without getting tired. :P

Great job, but I still think Redemption is better than this. I'm saying this is your second-best song! Keep up the good work!

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

I was unsure if the amount of reverb was too much or not. Good that that's good. :) The percussion is something I'm especially proud of, along with one of the synths in the end.

Oh, I think I know what you mean by "sidechain" now. The bass is off-beat and I haven't heard of Cordis before. (Should I have?)

This song is probably nothing for the typical Newgrounder as it is long and has a long progression. We all know how long peoples' attention span is around here. :)
(Do you mean the one-hour album E2-E4 by Manuel Göttsching? (Yes, I used Wikipedia...) )

I think Redemption is better too... as an ambient song. :P Anyway, thanks for reviewing! It's always appreciated!

Review as I listen?

I like the starting synth, very nice. Kick roll is also cool. I'd like to hear a lot of reverb on that clap, though. ;) I like the whatever-you-call it synth that comes in at :28, can't see why other reviewers though it fell apart there :(

This is a song I think a good sidechained pad could fill up well. What do you say?

Pretty dancey, the percussion flows well, and I like the melody! Not much to say yet again, but still, nice job!

-Lamp

P.S. - my remix of "Redemption" is done. Sorry I haven't told you yet, but I hope you'll forgive me! http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/236468

ReFreezed responds:

*feels a bit relieved* I'm glad that someone liked that synth. :)

I thought using pads or strings at this point would make the song too crowded and messy. But I dunno...

Thanks for reviewing!

Aaand OMG, I'm so excited! Must. Listen. To. Remix! :O

Howdy thar!

I remember playing Crash Bandicoot, but for some reason the music doesn't ring any bells... hmm. That's annoying. :(

I like the choatic percussion, the little kick fizzes (don't know what else to call them) are pretty cool. It sounds pretty ambient, but the kick weirdness reminds me a lot of Goa Trance. (see ZENON's "Wungeye" for an example: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/liste n/226872)

Um... I think the bass might have been better as a soft sawish synth, but whatever works for you. The other synths are nice, though!

Not much to say, really... nice job!

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

Howdy!

Maybe my original remix sounds more like the in the game. I used a bell sound there instead of a synth.

I haven't heard of "Goa Trance" before. That's how educated I am. :D That's a great song by Zenon btw.

Erm... I used BoobAss because I got lazy. Don't tell anyone. <_< >_> <_<

Well, thanks for the review! They're always appreciated. :)
