This is ironic.

I just uploaded an 8-minute track and thought I was being long-winded. Then I saw your Bandcamp and stumbled on this massive piece of audio.

So far, I'm only two minutes in, but I'm enjoying the journey. It has much more flavor than "The Kick," and it is indeed very relaxing. Once I get used to the kick, it starts sounding a lot like ocean waves, which is a very interesting effect. I like that things steadily morph into each other... soothing :)

I'm going to let this finish, then continue with my review...

Mmm... yep, that was lovely. Not too much of a variation between the first melodic bit and the second, but it still sounded pretty. Something tells me I'm going to put this on later tonight to fall asleep to.

Good work!

ReFreezed responds:

When I had finished recording the delay effect I looked at the time and was like "OMG, that's long! I have to add more instruments to make it more interesting!" as I hadn't planned this at first... Hey, isn't this the second time we're uploading similar tracks simultaneously? :O

"The Kick" had some flaws in it which I didn't really notice at first. Apparently, when you reset a knob's position in a plug-in in FL Studio then the action doesn't get recorded. :/ Anyway, I agree: it does sound a bit like ocean waves. Morphing ftw!

The second melodic part was more supposed to be an echo of the first part. Well, glad you liked it. :)

Thanks a lot for the review! I know I've been bad at reviewing stuff lately. :( I'll make sure to listen to AND review your song. Again, thanks!

Poetic.

As I sit here waiting for my song to finish uploading, I read that line of yours about never having a reason to make music. I'm not saying that it could be turned into a poem, but that was a deep thought there. Makes a man think.

As for this song... I wouldn't go so far as to say it's your BEST work yet, but it's definitely high up there. The quality in composition and just the overall sound makes me cry. You really are better at classical music than me :)

I can't nitpick this. You're off the hook. My ears are watering for the next thing I hear from you, good sir.

Lublub194 responds:

Thanks man.

It's what I wrote after getting the news. I wrote this in 10 minutes. Seriously. Thus I am surprised that it got a good rating, but sadly that's what true emotion does to your music.

I'm glad you liked it, sadly I can't say I enjoyed making it.

Holy schmoly.

Goodness gracious. At first, I wasn't extremely impressed with a song. It progressed slowly, but then the moment came when everything suddenly made sense. Of everything I've heard today, this has got to be the best classical piece. It's light in sound, but heavy in emotion. There's so much feeling in this that contradicts and compliments itself... deary me. I'm flabbergasted.

Awesome piece. You've got loads of potential. More than me anyway, with those gorgeous strings of yours :3 I'm going to peruse some more of your stuff. I'd love to collab with you as well, but frankly I'd much rather see what you and Lublub come up with if that works out!

Coolness. This is really great stuff.

Hey there

I just thought I'd return the favor and leave you a review after the kind one you left me :)

I can see this used as background music for some sort of adventurous ordeal, it's got that perilous yet triumphant vibe. One of the main things I find so good about this song is that it's performed live. At least I assume it is. Whether there are errors or background noise, live music tends to feel a lot more emotional. So... yep. Cheers for live music!

Keep it up!

Well then.

I need to find a genre of music I'm better than you at. Seriously. I tried hoppy music once and it's pretty dopey (not dope) compared to this. This first time through, I wanted this to be a 30-minute song. But whatever. I'm used to music being that long. This is an awesome tune, for sure.

I completely forgot to pay attention to anything but the mood the first time through, so on the second listen I tried to find something to constructively criticize... but there's nothing. The drums did change, but I like the turning point idea. And I liked both parts of the song equally... not too much drama, just the laid-back, always appreciative friendly vibe. Love it bunches :3

Bibbity bobbity boo. This is a lovely little tune :D I hope Evan likes it!

And I need to be whipped into shape. I keep saying I'll work on that Piano Melody thing and I never do. I need to see that song completed someday >:(

Lublub194 responds:

You don't have to complete it, you can always send it back. I'll see what I can do then.

I tried to make the halves sound different, and the same, while leaving a subtle jive to them. The bassline is kept through the whole thing, it's just hard to hear without headphones or high-bass speakers.

I'm glad you liked it! I'm glad people enjoy this.

I wanted to make it longer, sort of, I also wanted to keep it short enough, to make sure it was still friendly to those who find repetitive stuff annoying. It's hard to balance those sometimes. :/

I quite personally think you're far far better with classical than I am. Far better. I'm glad you like it though.

Thanks for the review good sir!

Wowee!

Fantastic. Spectacular. Awe-inspiring.

Awesome. This is fantastic. Shame I'm the only 10 you've gotten so far. I understand Lubby taking off a point for remixing, but a 5 for this song just doesn't sit right with me. I guess it's a matter of opinion. Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that his username is "fartingchickenz" :\

But anyway. I love everything about this song. The bass is just fantastic... I tried to make something like that once but it never turned out right. The portamento on it is just beautiful :3

I also really liked the little buildup / crescendo bit with the bells at 1:28 or so... that was pretty awesome as well.

And the whole song made my day! It makes me want to give up this ambient stuff I'm doing now and get cracking on some cool stuff like this :D

-HeffaLamp

ReFreezed responds:

Aww. :)

Maybe he simply takes off 5 points for remixes, unlike Lublub's -1. We may never know.

The bass was actually not too hard to make. Recipe: take a triangle wave, mix it with a little sine, run it through a low-pass filter, add quite some resonance to it. For the EQ'ing, increase the tremble and decrease the bass. Now go wild with the cut-off frequency on the filter! Woo! Also, play a very low sine bass with high volume along with it for more awesomeness.

I'm not sure what bells you mean. But thanks anyway!

I'm glad I could be at your service. But you better not quit making that sweet sweet ambient music! :)

-RefWoozle

Oh yeah!

This is some hardcore stuff! Definitely would fit in some mindblowing action-adventure game... holy crap, I just got to the part around 1:30 where those wicked effects come in. Those are enough to make me love the song, they're so awesome! And the percussion rocks! Ahh... :D

Hands down my favorite trance song by you so far... I love it! So energetic and mysterious sounding... Whee!

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

Aaaa-I'm very glad you like it-aaahh :D

Thanks!

I'm grooving :D

There are some people who can't stand hip-hop without a much bassier kick, but I really don't care. Actually, this is a little fast for hip-hop anyway but I don't care about that either! I'll appreciate the song for what it is, GOOD GRACIOUS >:)

Really groovy beat here. Not very much melodic stuff, but the percussion sounds were very nice (especially the hi-hats, I need me some good hi-hats). I liked the build-ups like around 1:08 that led up to the scratching (which also sounds cool).

Yep. I liked it :D I might make something like this of my own. Except more drill'n'bass-style... hehe!

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

I didn't choose to make hip-hop - I just had to choose a genre for the song SO THANKS for being awesome :D

This was actually supposed to be a DnB song at first, but then I found these Hip-Hop'y samples. I also felt like making some use of the scratch plug-in which I've never used before. I think the scratching sounds kinda crappy; I noticed that it's hard to scratch... It's fun though.

Tanks for the review!
Yes. Tanks.

-Refrrrrr

Grr.

Just as I was about to hit "submit review," my internet crashed. So now I'm re-writing it >:(

Really good song, despite it's short length. Everything sounded clean and polished :) Definitely a classy little tune. I really like the drums fading in and out, that was really cool. Can't wait to hear MOOOOOOORE!

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

Sorry for your crash. I DIDN'T CAUSE IT I SWEAR :3

Glad you like this one too, despite it's simpleness and length.

Next song is coming up tomorrow! It's a different style than this though. Anyway, thanks for reviewing!

Whoa there.

The previous review was like a pick-up line for musicians :P

This completely blew my mind. I just went online after listening to Aphex Twin for a VERY long time, and I think this actually matches up to his strange experimental stuff :O The thing is, this sounds absolutely crazy with a kick drum, but I'm trying to imagine what would happen if you put other sounds through the same processing... just trying to think of what other weird stuff this could sound like is enough to make me appreciate this.

Baha, my mom just came up and asked what I was playing. I was playing it loud enough to hear from the next floor :P

Really intriguing... sound here. I don't even know if it's safe to call it music, but it sounds mighty sweet to me :D

-Lamp

ReFreezed responds:

I actually have another (short) song on which I used about the same technique. I'll improve the mastering on it and upload it tomorrow. (Edit: Check out "Dance")

lol

I haven't heard much of Aphex Twin yet, but what of what I've heard it's quite interesting music. I first heard of him in "Children of Men". Anyway, that's an interesting thought. I just happened to have a kick sample loaded when I got this idea, but it could just equally work with any sound.

Haha! Well, what DID you say you were playing? What could this possibly be called? :P

Thanks for the review! Your reviews are always fun to read. :D
